Welcome to CHILD AWARE. We are a non-profit charity that has been set up to stop child abuse wherever and in whatever form it exists. To do this we hope to promote better laws to protect children from child abuse with mandatory sentences for those that commit the crime of child abuse; to promote as yet non- existent legislation to give all citizens here in Ireland and other countries the right to know if a convicted abuser is or intends to live in their area; to support a program for adults on child abuse awareness in the home; to support a child abuse prevention program for children in schools; Also social support and a place of refuge along with other important survival help and skills for victims and survivors of child abuse

CHILD AWARE itself was born from frustration and pain from victims of child abuse, their families, and their supporters. It’s beginning started in August of 2010.

That was when I reached out to Hanora Brennan to help me in this cause. We had much in common and not least was our common history of having been reared in the infamous Industrial institutions in Ireland since we were children. We realized quickly that child abuse was and is a much wider problem than anything we had come to know or understand. It was a deep learning curve.

There are literally armies of other child abuse victims from every background, here at home and abroad, and much of it is driven by poverty, fear and hopelessness. Child slavery and prostitution is on the rise. Armies of children who cannot read now carry guns given to them by foster parents who had murdered their mothers and fathers. Their stories are meshed with all the other horrors stories of children sufferings on a global scale of the epidemic problem that is child abuse. Adult crime and child abuse is linked horribly and because of the former the latter is on the rise. Many survivors of child abuse live on the streets that they call home; many fill the cemeteries that they saw as home helped by their own hand; Many still are among us though their spirits have long since passed before them for they are the living dead. The urgency of their plight is now and it is driven only by hope.

That hope has seen some progress as children's voices are less muted now though their suffering has grown; There is also less refuge for abusers; Beyond that the work is huge for not a second or a minute goes where a child is crying out for help, refuge or peace. We hope to provide it.

We hope also you like this site and that we have something for everyone. Please support us with whatever skills you can bring to the table, perhaps an item to auction or a financial contribution. How large or small your help is will make an even bigger difference.
